About Us

Mahir Özmen graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1989. He became a general surgeon at Ankara Numune Hospital in 1995. In 1997, he completed his thesis in gastrointestinal surgery and received his PhD equivalent, M.S (Master of Surgery).

He became Associate Professor of General Surgery in 1999, Professor in 2010, and served as the Head of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine between 2011-2013. He worked as a General Surgery faculty member at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 2010-2016, BAU Faculty of Medicine in 2016-2017, and Istinye University Faculty of Medicine in 2018-2022.

He received the F.A.C.S title from the American College of Surgeons in 2001 and the F.R.C.S title from the British Royal College of Physcians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006. He was selected as an International Fellow by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in 2014 and as a Fellow in 2016 and received the F.A.S.M.B.S title. He also received the F.E.B.S (Hon) title awarded by UEMS in 2016.
